“Nós que temos que dizer quem somos”: mulheres em movimentos agroecológicos no Norte de Minas e teoria ecofeminista

Abstract

The present work has as its central theme women in agroecological movements in Norte de Minas and feminist theory. As an analytical focus, we chose the approach ecofeminist, which understands the connections between women, nature and processes of subordination; based on the understanding that environmental and gender issues are articulated and demonstrate female oppression, environmental degradation and violation of human rights of rural and/or traditional peoples and communities. The goal general research consisted of investigating the possible relationships that are established between the discussions arising from ecofeminist theories with the actions of some figures women from the North of Minas who develop work, leadership and representation within their communities. To this end, bibliographical and field research was carried out, with an emphasis on qualitative methodology. The research results present the perception of leaders feminine as having a significant impact on external reality, in their of circulation and speech, through the living example of struggle and resistance. The women interviewed demonstrated that they are crossed by very significant material conditions of existence, such as rural identity – sometimes combined with belonging to traditional communities –; difficulties in accessing formal education; situations of domestic violence; intense journey of work; participation in movements as an element of reflection and transformation; Besides the awareness of autonomy closely linked to the struggle for land/territory and union of forces with other women as a transition factor towards less asymmetrical relationships.
