A modernidade no sertão: a experiência do I Plano Diretor de Montes Claros na década de 1970

Abstract

This work presents the analysis of the attempt of modernizing the urban space of the municipal district of Montes Claros in the decade of 1970, through the planning, more specifically through the I Urban master plan – the fetter, the difficulties and the historical report of that experience is what we tried to approach, under the light and the spirit of the modernity. The idea is to study the phenomenon of the modernity in your relationship with the urban, more particularly starting from the facts happened in the municipal district of Montes Claros, in the turning of the decade of 1970. The attempt of reorientação of your urban ranch, tends as element norteador the I master plan of the municipal district, it made possible us the choice of a comparison system in which the phenomenon of the modernity, associated to the subject of the urbanity, didn't differ a lot of the happened at other places, without we disrespect, obviously, the local particularities. Montes Claros didn't escape a lot from the applied general context even to the great western urban centers: the intervention pattern or of intervention attempt in the urban structure of the municipal district brings in your salience the characteristics and peculiarities of the interventions modernizadoras that affected not only the great western cities, in your majority, as well as the cities of smaller load, starting from the century XIX and, above all along the century XX. The objective proposed in this work of settling down some comparison criteria and of identifying the peculiar characteristics of these interventions in the urban structure of the city of Montes Claros they justify your elaboration. The parameters of this comparison will be established starting from the elements of consistency of the phenomenon of the modernity, according to authors as Marshall Berman, Jane Jacobs, José Murilo of Carvalho and he/she Reads Corbusier, Choay, among others.
