Cultura, patrimônio e identidade: práticas festivas no município de Coração de Jesus/Mg

Abstract

It was observed that the forms and moments of working, praying and celebrating are extremely intertwined and besides giving meaning to the lives of many individuals living in the countryside, they organize their activities, and the feasts play a significant role within this dynamic, since they are configured as a leisure time, but also as a space for (re) affirmation of the ties of sociability and identity. The purpose of this dissertation is to understand the place of religious festivals or "traditional festivals" in the two rural communities located in the city of Coração de Jesus, in the north of Minas Gerais. These are: the Feast Nossa Senhora da Conceição/ Bom Jesus and the Feast of São Sebastião, both held in the District of Alvação, and the Feast of São Luiz Gonzaga / Nossa Senhora Aparecida, held in the town of São Luiz de Minas. Based on the bibliographic research and the Oral History method (interviewing), the study of these parties arose from the need not only to identify and value these cultural manifestations and subjects involved, but also to discuss them as cultural heritage of these communities, from a perspective who accepts the change, the new as part of the process of protection and disclosure of these assets.
