Interfaces entre o rural e o urbano em Montes Claros/MG: o caso dos condomínios rurais

Abstract

Cities nowadays are characterized by joints accentuated of spatial forms between country and city. The expansion of the urban fabric, above all in medium-sized cities, is immediate stage of this process. The simple spatial delimitation reflects a bit the real content of what is considered rural and urban. This scenario describes the reality of the city of Montes Claros, since the real estate investing in the installment of the rural land to urban purpose. As a result, they form rural condominium around the city without an effective public control in municipal management. Given this reality, the general purpose of this work is to know the new interfaces between rural and urban in the city of Montes Claros from the spreading of the urban fabric purposing rural condominiums. Specifically, analyze the distribution and spatial configuration of rural condominiums; understand the specific dynamics through a characterization of the residents and, finally, reflect the environmental impacts of this new reconfiguration of the rural. The dissertation is divided into three chapters, in article form, given that they are separate parts but are integrated in an articulated manner. The work is justified on the need to study this new form of occupation. It is understood that this type of research can be used as a way to foster the discussion on the expansion of this type of occupation of rural land with urban purpose, in addition to supporting actions of government in land use management. This contribution does itself important, since these enterprises grow rapidly, producing a scenario of impacts not measured for the city.
